The ME-422 is an RS-422/449 DB-37 Modem Eliminator providing DTE to DTE connection. This device eliminates the need for costly high-speed modems between control units, minicomputers, or another mainframe to your computer system. The ME-422 handles all data, timing, and control signal handshaking, eliminating the need for confusing crossover cables.
These units have a number of selectable options to fit most applications, operates at speeds up to 2 Mbps and is available in either a stand-alone or rackmount configuration.
The ME-422/449 was designed to accomodate speeds greater than the 20 Kbps limit of the RS-232-D standard operation in conjunction with the electrical characteristics of the RS-422-A for balanced circuits. The ME-422 provides the user with an RS-449 DB-37 female interface to both DTE devices.
Communications is in full or half duplex modes in point-to-point or multipoint configurations simulating two or four wire facilities with data rates from 20 Kbps to a nominal upper limit of 2 Mbps. Point-to-point applications may operate on either switched or dedicated facilities.
The ME-422 accepts external timing up to 2.048 Mbps or internal timing to provided up to 614,400 bps. Optional internal timing options provided on request.
